Jay Baker

Jay Baker, FAIA

Principal

In his professional career, Jay Baker has sought to improve the built environment with efforts in practice, teaching and volunteerism. His work has been recognized with national, regional and local design awards in architecture, urban design, interior architecture, and graphic design. In 2002, Jay was made a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects for advancing the profession in architectural design.

He graduated with honors by receiving the Alpha Rho Chi Medal from Iowa State University and received his masters degree from the Rice University School of Architecture. In 1992, Iowa State University recognized him with the Design Achievement Award for distinguished contributions to the arts.

In 1996 he was selected by the Architectural League of New York for inclusion in Forty Under Forty, a competition held every ten years to identify the nation’s leading young architects. Over his teaching career, Jay has imparted the civic importance of carefully considered architecture to his students at the Rice University School of Architecture.

Luis Salcedo

Luis is originally from Bogota, Colombia and was raised in Houston, Texas. He Received his Bachelor of Architecture at Rice University. Luis worked at Kohn Pederson Fox Associates in New York for his preceptorship year at Rice and gained experience in large commercial and residential developments in Indonesia, China, and Hong Kong. He has been a part of the Jay Baker Architects design team since 2013.
